The Brickskeller's rescheduled strong ale event goes off tonight (Tuesday) down in D.C. and Maryland brewery Flying Dog will participate.
It looks like tickets are still available so if you're into the big beers and Flying Dog, consider stopping by down there.
Update, from BBG regular Brandon in the comments below: "Other Maryland breweries represented tonight will also be: Oliver's Steve Jones, Johannssons, Ruddy Duck Brewery and Marylands own Bob Tupper."

DC Update

Briefly, it looks like there will be ANOTHER DC Beer Week (someone ought to harmonize these various events) at the end of October.
It'll include a Smuttynose beer dinner at Birreria/Pizzeria Paradiso October 26th, Brooklyn Brewing's Garrett Oliver stops by Brasserie Beck October 27th, the Brickskellar has a 'why is there beer' discussion with some great guests October 27th and DC Beer is hosting its own event, 'The Great Pumpkin Beer and Food Tasting' October 28th at The Black Squirrel in Adams Morgan.

Try The Award Winning Flying Dog Beers
If you are headed in the general direction of Washington D.C. today, 2009 Great American Beer Fest 'mid-size' brewery of the year award winner Flying Dog out of Frederick Maryland is hosting a special tasting event tonight between 530 and 830 PM.
It will be at the Mayflower Hotel, and $20 gets you beer and appetizers, and I have to assume they'll put on most or all of their four award winning beers. Anyway, no reservations but the Washington City Paper says tuck in your shirt, at least.

Beer Notes
--- Bomber tonight (WED) at Mahaffey's (Canton) is Southern Tier Pumking ($12). Be sure to check the website Thursday for all their Baltimore Beer Week events, 'lotsa cask conditioned stuff and give-aways'. There's still room for the Flying Dog bus trip. They still have a few more Oktoberfest beers to go through, but winter ales are just around the corner. They'll open at noon on Sunday, including the kitchen.
--- As usual, Thursday is 'Thirsty Thursday' at Gilly's (Rockville), no corking fee on bottled beer (normally $2). Right now they have Dogfish Punkin, Clipper City The Great Pumpkin and Smuttynose Pumpkin Ale available.
Be sure to also check out 'Gilly-Tober-Fest' on Saturday October 10th from 4-7 PM. There will be a band, food from next door (Urban BBQ Oktober style brats & kraut), some wines and beers from Flying Dog, Starr Hill, Dominion, Weyerbacher, The Bruery and Clipper City.
--- DC's Birch & Barley/Churchkey, fabled beer extravaganza, may finally be coming into place. Lots of interesting info at YFGF to peruse ('555 unique labels, 50 draught beers, 5 cask lines, many exclusive vintage and obscure offerings, three distinct temperature zones).
--- EXCELLENT Baltimore Beer Week rundown (333 events!) from organizer Alexander Mitchell at Beer In Baltimore. Its overwhelming, I need to sit down soon and plot out where I'll be headed.
