Welcome, Mobbie Visitors!

Hmmm, so I've been nominated for a Mobbie - MOB -Maryland's Outstanding Blogs, get it? by good blogpal Brent at HowChow, another excellent blog (bookmark it, friends). Its a contest created by the Baltimore Sun, if that adds any legitimacy.

Anyway, I guess voting starts today, Baltimore Beer Guy is under the 'foodie' category, so vote for me and stuff. Vote your conscience really.

Update: Er, I'm a little confused. Voting starts September 25th, whats going on right now is a nominating process. Apologies for (my) confusion.

Help HowChow: Best Beer in Howard County

Our friend at the HowChow blog is doing a great series on Howard County dining and related. Check his site for the whole series but right now he's inquiring about best (burgers and) beer in Howard County. Be sure to leave a comment.

Frisco Grille is atop my list, but the Judge's Bench and Victoria Gastro Pub do excellent work with their taps and bottles as well. The Perfect Pour is an amazing bottle shop in the area and I have to at least mention the two breweries, Ellicott Mills and Bare Bones although Bare Bones really doesn't get much love from the beer geeks although their Hef has always been decent enough the few times I've been there.

Miscellaneous

Tom Cizauskas at Yours For Good Fermentables (and fellow C.R.A.B.B.) writes prolific on mild ales. I confess ignorance, but this was an education and gives intrigue to a potential visit to Oliver's/The Wharf Rat. These beers are right up their wheelhouse.

Also more Baltimore Beer Week talk (see here, here) and the Sun's "winter beer tasting" featuring an all-star cast of local beer folks to be published at an unknown date and time.

Greg at Food, Wine, Beer, Culture had a nice night at Max's recently.

HowChow reviews Frisco Grille, probably my top beer hangout.

But it's also fun if you're a neophyte who wants to taste a few beers before you order your pint. Frisco Grille has no pretentions. You can sample and explore.

Finally, an interesting profile of Dogfish Head's Sam Calagione and by extension the entire craft beer industry at the New Yorker. Gives yourself a few minutes to work through this, it's The New Yorker after all (via Kasper on Tap).

The awesome Howard County dining blog HowChow just threw a link Baltimore Beer Guy's way today. I have to admit I've borrowed some concepts from HowChow, that's how thoughtfully organized their site is.

Plus it points me to good places to eat in my home base, Howard County here. Be sure to bookmark them and explore (I tend to get lost in there clicking through all the reviews and before I know it a lot of time has passed).
